The short version
There is no account or sign-in. Your matches, darts, drill runs and tournaments are saved on this device and, while Sync is on, synced to our server, filed under a random restore key; we do not collect an email address, phone number or account. Player photos, board photos and camera samples stay on this device. The app sends limited, pseudonymous product-usage analytics to Mixpanel, keyed to a random installation identifier; it never includes that scorekeeping content.
App identifier: com.d73.chalk
What is stored on your device
- The name you enter, so the board can show it.
- Every match: the players, the game, and each dart of each visit.
- Every practice run you finish.
- Board photos you choose to take after a match.
- A photo you choose for a player, resized and kept in private storage.
- Short-lived, board-only images from uncertain camera scores you confirm or correct, capped at 200 and removed after seven days.
- Your preferences: which game to open on, how darts are entered, whether the optional caller is on, and whether reminders are on.
This is written to the app's own private storage. Deleting the app deletes the copy on this device.
Sync and online tournaments
Matches, practice runs and tournaments, including the player names in them, are copied to a database we operate on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, United States) so they can be restored. Each copy is filed under a random 128-bit restore key created on your device and kept in its keychain, which your device may sync with your other saved passwords. We do not collect an email address, phone number or account. Sync can be turned off under Settings, Sync; nothing more is uploaded while it is off. If you used the app before sync existed, it asks before the first upload. The synced copy is kept until you use Delete my data.
In an online tournament, the display names, a random player identifier, the game, the results and every dart of its matches are shared with the people in that tournament. A tournament code expires after seven days. The shared copy of an online tournament is deleted automatically seven days after its last change, and each of its matches seven days after it started.
Product analytics
Mixpanel receives a random installation identifier and bounded events such as app opens, screens viewed, onboarding completion, game family, match or drill completion, and camera-correction counts. Analytics is on by default and can be turned off under Settings → Share app analytics without affecting scorekeeping.
Mixpanel never receives player or team names, scores, darts, board coordinates, photos, camera frames or samples, exported files, or support content. Automatic capture, advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking and IP-based geolocation are disabled. The app does not access your microphone, location or contacts, and it never reads your photo library.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives the Apple purchase and subscription information needed to validate access, restore purchases and show subscription status. The app does not receive or store your full payment-card details. RevenueCat does not receive player names, scores, darts, photos or camera frames.
Camera and photos
Camera access is requested only when you choose camera scoring or "Snap the board". Camera scoring processes live frames on this device; ordinary frames are discarded and never uploaded. If you check, correct or reject an uncertain detection, the app may keep one metadata-free crop of the board in private storage for accuracy testing. It keeps no more than 200 crops, removes each after seven days and deletes all of them with "Delete my data". Finish photos are kept only when you take one. If you choose "Save to Photos", iOS separately asks for add-only access. The app cannot read the photo library. When you choose a player photo, iOS shows its own picker and the app receives only the one image you pick; it is resized and never uploaded. Camera features remain optional and do not use the microphone.
Score caller
If you turn the score caller on, the app plays prerecorded audio included in the app. It does not use the microphone, speech recognition, a network service or a third party.
Export and sharing
You can export your matches and practice history as a file, or use the iOS share sheet to send a match scorecard. An export or shared scorecard leaves this device only when you choose where it goes. The selected app or service then handles the copy under its own privacy terms. "Restore from a backup" reads only the file you pick and adds its matches, runs and tournaments to this device.
Reminders
If you turn reminders on, iOS asks your permission and the app schedules a local reminder for the weekday and hour you usually throw, worked out on this device from your own matches and practice. It never fires on a day you have already played and never promotes a purchase. No notification is sent from a server, and its text contains no names, scores or identifiers. Turning reminders off removes them. You can also revoke the permission in the iOS Settings app at any time.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Deleting your data
Settings contains "Delete my data". It erases every match, every dart, every practice run, every tournament, every stored board and player photo, every corrected camera sample, your name and every preference from this device, deletes the synced copy from our server (if the device is offline, the next time the app opens with a connection), removes the same synced records from other devices that use the same restore key when they next connect, leaves any online tournament, cancels any pending reminder, and requests deletion of the installation's Mixpanel profile. Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase records needed for subscriptions and restoration. Deleting data does not cancel a subscription. The deletion cannot be undone.
